Auto Accident Care at Westheights Chiropractic

Teen with sore neck from car accidentIf you’ve been involved in an auto accident, we are here to provide you with the care you need to get out of pain and recover from your injuries. Our chiropractors are experts at providing chiropractic care for practice members following motor vehicle accidents.

What If It Was Just a Minor Accident?

Many people mistakenly believe that if they’re in a low-speed accident such as a fender bender then their body hasn’t sustained any damage. That’s simply not true. It doesn’t matter if you were hit in a rear-end car accident at five kilometers, 10, 20, 30 and so on. Even a five-kilometer rear-end accident can cause damage to the spine.

Common Injuries We See

Here are the top injuries for which practice members seek our care following an auto accident:

  • Whiplash
  • Concussions
  • Headaches
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain

When you’re in an auto accident, the vertebrae in the spine become subluxated. You may not feel the effects of it until weeks, months or years later because the body will start to go into a compensation mode.

Your body could have issues deep down that you can’t see and those can manifest down the road too. If vertebrae get stuck in a subluxated position, degeneration and arthritic changes will start to occur in the spine. That will cause less mobility and pain and other symptoms.

So that’s why we encourage everyone after a motor vehicle accident to get checked by a chiropractor right away. Thanks to our extensive technology, we can pick up anything. That’s important because if you’re not in pain or you don’t have symptoms, our technology allows us to look deeper to see how the body is functioning.

When you’re getting care for your auto accident injuries the last thing you want to think about is the hassles of dealing with insurance. Our office is set up for Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) insurance where we do that for you by dealing with insurance directly so you don’t need to worry about billing.

If I'm already in pain from my injuries will an adjustment hurt?

At Westheights Chiropractic, both of our chiropractors are well versed in many different chiropractic techniques. If an individual is in a lot of pain following a car accident, our chiropractors will start out using a very gentle technique to start restoring motion and alignment to subluxated areas of the spine. The actual chiropractic adjustment itself doesn’t hurt, sometimes after an adjustment you can feel sore or tender the day of or the next day. If you feel sore or tender after an adjustment, we instruct you to ice the area to help decrease any inflammation that may be present in the joint capsule.
Will you also provide some exercises I can do at home?

Yes, as we start to restore motion and alignment to subluxated areas of the spine, it is very important to start strengthening in and around the areas that were subluxated. Our chiropractors will give you specific exercises at specific points of your care that you can perform at home to help with your chiropractic adjustments.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments do you offer any other modalities to help me heal?

At Westheights Chiropractic, we focus on the chiropractic adjustment. If you need additional modalities to help in your healing process, we co-manage care with physiotherapists.
How do billings for motor vehicle accidents work?

At Westheights Chiropractic, we take care of all the work regarding your billings for your motor vehicle insurance claim. This allows you to focus on your care and not stress about submitting your billings to your insurance company.
